Faculty Workshop on Outcome Based Education (OBE)
UPCD Auditorium
July 8-10, 2014

Expected outcomes:
1.       Revised syllabi in selected courses following the outcome-based education (OBE) format,
2.       Revised instructional designs in selected topics according to OBE format,
3.       Formulation of sample instruments for levels 1-4 evaluation.

Objectives: At the end of the one-day seminar-workshop, participants should be able to:
1.       Explain outcome-based education framework in one’s own curricular setting,
2.       Discuss the nature and development of higher order thinking skills and their vital role in promoting transformative learning among dentistry students,
3.       Formulate relevant and valid objectives that reflect learning outcomes,
4.       Organize topics in OBE,
5.       Design interactive strategies to achieve learning outcomes,
6.       Formulate an evaluation plan using the Kirkpatrick’s model, and
7.       Construct sample tools for workplace-based assessment.

Congratulations to our graduates who have recently passed the June 2014 Licensure Examinations. Congratulations for again achieving a 100% passing rate and also for taking 7 out of the Top 10 places.  We are all very proud of you.

June 2014 Dentist Licensure Examination results released in three (3) working days (

The Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) announces that 238 out of 583 passed the May 2014 Dentist Licensure Examination (Written Phase) and 245 out of 249 passed the Dentist Licensure Examination (Practical Phase) given by the Board of Dentistry in Manila last June 2014.
The members of the Board of Dentistry who gave the licensure examination are Dr. Rannier F. Reyes, Chairman; Dr. Gloria M. Bumanlag, Dr. Steve Mark G. Gan, Dr. Melinda L. Garcia and Dr. Dominador H. Santos Jr., Members.
The results were released in three (3) working days after the last day of examinations.
Registration for the issuance of Professional Identification Card (ID) and Certificate of Registration will be on July 9 & 10, 2014. Those who will register are required to bring the following: duly accomplished Oath Form or Panunumpa ng Propesyonal, current Community Tax Certificate (cedula), 1 piece passport size picture (colored with white background and complete name tag), 2 sets of metered documentary stamps and 1 short brown envelope with name and profession and to pay the Initial Registration Fee of P600 and Annual Registration Fee of P450 for 2014-2017. Successful examinees should personally register and sign in the Roster of Registered Professionals.
The date and venue for the oathtaking ceremony of the new successful examinees in the said examination WILL BE ANNOUNCED LATER.

The College Curriculum Committee headed by Dr. Bette Murjani organized an initial presentation for the Doctor of Dental Medicine curriculum review -  July 1, 2014, Tuesday,  from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm at the UPCD Auditorium. All UPCD Faculty members were required to attend the said event. 

  • Dr Sonny Tumang on Vertical and Horizontal Integration of Curriculum
  • Dr. Tess Lara on Current Scenario, Proposals for Change & Justifications
  • Dr.Tristan Ramos on Patient Based Clinical Training
  • Dr. Bette Murjani as facilitator for a discussion on the relevance of the current curriculum.

The first of a series of PACUCOA accreditation activities for this academic schoolyear was held on July 26, 2014 at the UPCD Centennial Room.  The activity focused primarily on the presentation and discussion of PACUCOA Survey Forms.

The Art Committee of the UPCD Centennial Organizing Committee (UCOC) will hold an Art Raffle and Exhibition on Sept. 6, 2014. The artwork to be raffled will be from distinguished Filipino artists.

We also intend to showcase UPCD alumni’s artistic talent. So, we will have a bazaar to showcase and sell handcrafted items, such as jewelry, accessories, bags, home décor, paper crafts, etc.- anything handmade by our graduates. A portion of the earnings will be donated to the college.

Dear UPCD Alumni,

Please find below my report on my visit to the US on May 14-28. I apologize for not coming up with
this report earlier. The past 2 weeks were full of school activities that I had to personally attend to. These include: 2013 and 2014 Performance Based Bonus reports, the 3-day UP Manila Faculty Development Seminar Workshop on Outcome-Based Learning, 2014 Merit Promotion related activities, the hosting of 8 students and staff from Khon Kaen University of Thailand and usual business at the office that until now I am still trying to catch up with.
